There's actually more than one swimming hole along this track! The first one is also beautiful, although not as spectacular as Kangaroo Pool. It's just 100m on from the rock platform. The stats. Distance: 3.8km return. Elevation gain: 170m. Difficulty: Easy but not flat. The walk to Lower Kangaroo Creek does have a few hills to climb, but nothing too arduous. The trail is well maintained and the terrain excellent up until the last 500m where you leave the marked track. From here it is unmaintained and involves a creek.

Once we reached the top, we came to a signposted junction and took the trail to the right, Engadine Track, following the signs to Kangaroo Creek. At first, the trail descended gently through lush eucalypt forest peppered with wonderfully gnarly angophoras.. There are a few little waterfalls to check out here and some pretty interesting rocks.
